NYCS Registered Student Organizations
NYCS Involvement Opportunities on the Marymount Manhattan College Campus
Joining existing Registered Student Organizations (RSOs)
All New York City Scholars are able to join any of the existing Registered Student Organizations (including Core Councils) during their first year on the Marymount Manhattan College campus. They are able to participate, attend, and contribute to these organizations, however, they are not allowed to vote or hold office in existing MMC RSOs or the Core Councils.
Starting a NYCS Registered Student Organization (NYCS RSO)
The Office of Student Development and Activities is opening applications for up to four (4) NYCS RSOs due to limited capacity.
Benefits
- Room Reservation: Your RSO will have access to reserve rooms on campus for your events.
-
Funding: Your RSO can receive allocated funding through the Student Government Association to
help bring your events to fruition. - Participation in Campus-Wide Events: Your RSO will be able to table at campus-wide events such as Applefest and Strawberryfest.
Officer Requirements
All officers must be in good academic, conduct, and community standing. If they are not at or above the 2.5 GPA requirement for the spring semester, they will no longer be able to hold office.

Recognition Timeline
Once you have fulfilled all of the above requirements, you will be asked to submit an application to the NYCS RSO Form.
Your application will be reviewed by the office of Student Development and Activities. During this time you may be rejected, asked for amendments, or approved to present before the Student Government Association. SDA approval does not guarantee that your RSO will be accepted.
Within two weeks of the close of applications you will hear from the Student Government Association to schedule a presentation time for your NYCS RSO. To best prepare for your presentation, be sure to come with the following:
(a.) Introduction as to what your NYCS RSO will be
(b.) How your NYCS RSO will benefit the NYCS and MMC student population
(c.) How frequently you plan on meeting and any large-scale events you plan on having
After you present, you will receive your verdict from SGA as to whether you are approved or being sent back for revisions. This should occur within a week of your presentation, however this might vary depending on their schedule.
Lastly, if you are approved, all four officers must find time with the Office of Student Development and Activities to be trained on the internal processes. After this training, you can begin acting in the capacity of a NYCS RSO.
