How to Prepare for Your First Advisement Session
To make the most out of this interaction, it is important that you adequately prepare beforehand and follow the below steps during your session.
- Know your major or area of interest. Your first semester schedule will be based off of this information.
- Review MMC’s general education requirements.
- Explore major requirements described in the MMC Academic Catalog
- Gather all transfer credit information (dual enrollment, AP, IB, etc).
- Be prepared to inform an advisor of days and times you cannot attend school (work, religion, etc.)

What is the policy regarding requests for schedule changes?
We would like to limit the number of changes to your first-semester schedule. A substantial amount of time and consideration will go into creating your first-semester schedule. An advisor will review your area of interest, and course availability, alongside your indicated schedule constraints. Therefore, the schedule you receive will be the best possible schedule based on the information you provided. As such, there can be no changes to your schedule, except in rare cases involving extenuating circumstances.
