Lauren Zeftel (Director) is thrilled to return to Marymount Manhattan College after previously guest directing student plays Bugzy by Addie Atkins and Seyoncé by Sophie Joan Tyler. As an educator, she has taught or guest directed at Atlantic Acting School, Brooklyn College, Columbia University, the Lee Strasberg Theater & Film Institute, Manhattanville University, New York University, NYFA at Harvard, Pace University, and Off-Broadway for “Speak Up Speak Out” at the New Victory Theater. Currently, she teaches directing and devising at Playwrights Horizons Theater School (NYU Tisch) and Advanced Acting, here at Marymount. Professionally, Lauren frequently develops new plays and musicals, including seven World Premiere productions. Previously, she served as Associate Director on Bess Wohl’s Small Mouth Sounds (Signature, National Tour), James + Jerome’s INK (Under the Radar, The Metropolitan Museum of Art), and most recently on the immersive musical Dalí, Gala Exhibition by Korean artists YoonJi Cho and SeungMin Kim (K-Musical Roadshow). Lauren is a former Clubbed Thumb New Play Directing Fellow, Playwrights Horizons Robert Moss Directing Fellow, a two-time Drama League Resident Artist, and an alumna of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab, the Mercury Store Directors Lab, and the Williamstown Directing Corps. Next, Lauren will direct Sarah Galante’s new play Body Negative (Broadway Bods) and the first English translation of Kei Ando’s Earthly Bones (Japan Society). SDC Associate.
