Scholarships
All applicants who complete their application to the Department of Theatre Arts are automatically considered for the Visual and Performing Arts Merit Scholarship at their audition/interview. Applicants may also receive an Academic Merit Scholarship which can be stacked with the Visual and Performing Arts Merit Scholarship.
At the audition/interview, candidates compete for Theatre scholarships, renewable for three years if the student remains in the Theatre major and maintains a 3.0 grade point average. Visual and Performing Arts Merit Scholarships are given on the basis of talent and academic record.
Scholarship recipients are informed of their awards in the Department of Theatre Arts admissions letter.
Decision Letters and the Re-Audition Policy
A decision letter will be sent after you have been accepted into the college by the Office of Admissions. Your decision letter will state which program you have been admitted to.
Students who were not admitted to a specific major or concentration within the Department of Theatre Arts are not eligible to re-audition for that same area. However, they are welcome to interview for a different major or concentration they have not previously applied to.
Students who were waitlisted but not ultimately offered a place in our programs are also not eligible to re-audition.
Current MMC students who have not yet auditioned or interviewed for any Theatre Arts major are eligible to do so. These students should contact the Office of Theatre Recruitment to schedule their audition or interview.
Please note: Whether a student is currently enrolled at MMC or applying as a prospective student, anyone who has already received a decision letter from the BFA Musical Theatre or Acting program is not eligible to re-audition for either program. Applicants to Musical Theatre are automatically considered for both Musical Theatre and Acting; therefore, a denial from Musical Theatre also constitutes a denial from Acting.
Higher Education Opportunity Program
Prospective students who are HEOP applicants are encouraged to apply to the HEOP program by December 15 and schedule their Theatre Arts audition/interview as early as possible. For more information on the HEOP program, please visit the HEOP page.
