About

(he/him) Hi! I’m a junior at Marymount Manhattan College majoring in Psychology and minoring in Neuroscience. My goal after graduation is to become a clinical psychologist. Growing up, I always felt a drive to help people. Seeing how active listening and taking time to understand a person can help them open up and feel better has always been something that has made me feel accomplished.

What are some of your interests?
I’ve recently become fascinated by memory disorders and may pursue that topic as a specialty. I was inspired to learn more about it after listening to a musical exploration of Alzheimer’s by the experimental artist Leyland James Kirby. Music and memory are more connected than many people believe. Aside from listening to long experimental, exploratory music (haha), my other hobbies are drawing, writing, and life simulator games like the Sims!

What made you want to be a peer mentor?
The position is exactly the type of experience I want under my belt for the future. I’m also interested in helping freshmen because I remember my first year was a whirlwind. And, of course, I’m interested in meeting new people. MMC is a very diverse school, and I appreciate having the opportunity to communicate with people from different backgrounds.

What qualities do you possess that would help you in the role?
I have taken the time to focus on active listening when I’m talking with someone. I want to ensure the person knows that I have taken in what they said and understand it. I want people to feel heard and safe around me. I am also very solution-oriented and tend to be able to tap into practical, helpful solutions aside from offering emotional support.
