About

Bryan Holcombe has been with Hartford Stage for the last twenty-four years in three different capacities. Bryan joined the staff in 2000 as the Assistant Technical Director, moved up to Technical Director in 2002 and currently is the Director of Production, a position he has held since 2008. As Director of Production Bryan’s duties have been to; oversee nineteen to twenty-six full-time production staff, the company manager, and the facilities/operations manager, and manage roughly $2-3 million annually of the company’s operating budget over the course of a six to seven show season. General duties include fiscal oversight, expenditure tracking and approval, hiring, staff management, and reporting directly to the Artistic and Managing Directors. Working with the senior level team Bryan devise’s the season calendar and budgets each production based upon the concept and direction of the
Artistic team. In his role he also negotiates the contracts with designers and stage managers. For each show Bryan facilitates the execution of the designs in all areas of production by ensuring open communication amongst the entire design team, timeliness of designs and the meeting of deadlines, facilitating production meetings, and problem solving issues as they arise. Additionally he oversees the facilities and operations of Hartford Stage’s three buildings including safety, security and maintenance as well as being the staff liaison to the board Facilities Committee. A Connecticut native, born in Hartford, Bryan received his Bachelors of Arts from Keene State College (Keene, NH) and his Master of Fine Arts, in Technical Direction, from University of North Carolina School of the Arts (Winston-Salem, NC). During his school years Bryan worked for various summer stock companies in New England and prior to joining Hartford Stage was the Technical Director for Olney Theater Center in Maryland for three years.

Currently Bryan is active with the Production Managers Forum, an online forum for professional Production Managers/Directors of Production, has served on the LORT/USA negotiating team, and assists in the project management of any the theater’s major renovation projects.

Bryan resides in Tolland with his wife and daughter.
