My years as a Philosophy and Religious Studies major at MMC have undoubtedly gotten me to where I am now. The strong basis in philosophical theory and method alongside the close mentorship of incredible scholars such as Bradley Herling have shaped my own pedagogical style, academic interests, and ability to be a strong graduate student in ways I cannot begin to enumerate. At MMC I was never just another nameless student in the classroom, I had a face and a voice that was respected, listened to, guided, and encouraged throughout my intellectual journey.

I attended MMC’s Speech Pathology program for 3 years as a transfer student, but I can assure you it was the best decision I made. This program and the on-campus clinic gave me the confidence I needed to go onto grad school. I was more prepared than half my cohort was and I was one of the few students who had previous experience with clients.

The Sociology program helped me understand that social issues are socially experienced and socially produced even though as a society we tend to blame individuals.

Playwriting at Marymount Manhattan challenged and molded me into the artist I am today while also giving me the tools to be the artist I dream of being tomorrow. I couldn’t be grateful enough for my experience and the support system I feel I still have even two years after graduation.

A true testament to a school is its teachers. I was trained by teachers that I will consider mentors for the rest of my life. Plus, I got to go to college in NYC!
