Kate Myers ’22
Class of 2022, BFA in Dance

About
I graduated from MMC in 2022 with concentrations in choreography and modern. I also received the “gold key” for choreography. I am so grateful for the Dance Program and the incredible mentorship I received throughout my time in school and beyond. Some of my favorite memories included Motley’s Comp III, every DAW and learning how to choreograph and edit for film during COVID, and the lasting connections. Currently, I am a 1st year MFA student at UCLA studying Choreographic Inquiry. My research is focused on finding choreographic innovation through the development of an Ecosomatic Habitus. This interest in ecosomatic dance started during my senior year DAW under the mentorship of Elizabeth Motley. I am also in the process of performing and touring a solo choreographed by Annie Kahane with more shows in San Francisco and LA this spring. This past weekend an expanded version of my work “Phasic Symbiosis” was performed at LA’s International Women’s Day Festival. A work that was started at Marymount.
